The 2023 EuCNC 6G Summit (https://www.eucnc.eu/), the biggest EU organised event in the domain, took place in Gothenburg on June 6-9 with the main theme “6G for a Green and Digital Transform”. Dr Tsampieris, Senior Manager -ERTICO, participated in the session “6G for verticals: Expectations and the way forward and discussed on how 6G is expected to transform Smart Mobility. He was also a panellist in the session “Challenges and solutions for enabling intelligent routing in ORAN using RIC and integrating satellite networks’ where he gave a presentation on the “Security enablers for 6G Networks”, discussing the PRIVATEER 6G project, in which ERTICO is a key participant.
The Summit showcased the state of the art of research in communication networks and associated topics, with numerous exciting keynotes, panels, sessions, workshops, tutorials, and exhibitions. The SNS JU is led jointly by industry and the European Commission and has set out both the strategy and the tools to develop technology capacities for 6G systems. Pearse O’Donohue, Director of Directorate E in Future Networks at DG CONNECT of the European Commission, was the Conference General Co-Chair, which highlights the important value of this event for the future of connectivity and technological development for the European Union.
In the past few months, the SNS JU launched 35 projects that received funding of around EUR 250 million. One these was PRIVATEER 6G, a pioneering project to which ERTICO is proud to contribute. Pavlos Fournogerakis, Program Officer at SNS JU and Project Officer for PRIVATEER, was one of the vice-chairs of the Summit’s Steering Committee. and delivered the opening EC/DG-CNECT statement for the convened session “SNS: A European collaborative initiative with a strong vertical impact on a global level”.
